Passes start at $44 and are available at the door, though advance purchase is recommended.
Arizona Diamondbacks Home Games at Chase Field Location: Chase Field, 401 E. Jefferson St. – Downtown Phoenix Date(s): Multiple dates in June 2026
Chase Field is one of the best places to catch a summer game in the country, thanks to its retractable roof and full air conditioning. June home series include matchups against the Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins. Father’s Day falls on a home game this year when the D-backs host Minnesota on June 21. Tickets start as low as $19, and the Family Value Pack bundles four tickets with hot dogs and sodas for $120.

The Arizona Science Center’s flagship summer camp program is back with week-long STEM sessions running all summer long. Each week features a different theme — past themes have included space exploration (in partnership with NASA), dinosaurs, engineering, anatomy, and culinary science — keeping things fresh for kids who want to come back multiple weeks. Camp runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and scholarships are available for families who need them. Registration is required and spots are limited, so sign up early.
Catch a Show at ASU Gammage Location: ASU Gammage, 1200 S. Forest Ave. – Tempe Date(s): Multiple shows throughout June 2026
One of the most iconic venues in the Southwest, ASU Gammage is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed landmark on the ASU campus with a packed summer calendar. This June, the headliner is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, running June 24 through July 3 — a touring Broadway production with new sets, costumes, and the full Oscar-winning score. Earlier in the month, Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band take the stage on June 12. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly Broadway night or a classic rock legend, Gammage has something worth dressing up for this month.
Best Day Trips from Phoenix
When the Valley hits triple digits, Northern Arizona calls. These destinations are all within three and a half hours of Phoenix and offer a meaningful break from the summer heat.
Sedona Location: Approximately 2 hours north of Phoenix via I-17 Best visited: Early morning or evening in June
At 4,350 feet elevation, Sedona runs about 20 to 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix in June — highs typically top out in the low 90s rather than pushing past 110. The red rock formations are stunning year-round, and summer brings a quieter, more affordable experience than the crowded spring season. Slide Rock State Park, located seven miles north of town along Highway 89A, is a natural water slide carved into Oak Creek Canyon and one of the best ways to spend a hot day in Arizona. Beyond the water, Tlaquepaque Arts Village, Cathedral Rock, and the famous jeep tours make for a full day. Arrive early — Slide Rock’s parking lot fills fast and the 2026 policy closes the lot entirely once capacity is reached.
Flagstaff Location: Approximately 2 hours north of Phoenix via I-17 Best visited: Any time — highs stay in the low-to-mid 70s in June
Flagstaff sits at 7,000 feet, which means June highs typically hover in the low 70s while Phoenix is baking past 110. The walkable Historic Downtown has great restaurants, boutique shops, live music, and a lively bar scene. This June, downtown is celebrating the Route 66 Centennial with a special city-wide event on June 6 featuring live music, street art, an Indigenous art market, and more. Every Saturday through summer, Downtown Flagstaff hosts free outdoor Yoga on the Lawn (9–10 a.m.) and Movies on the Square at Heritage Square at dusk. The Coconino National Forest surrounds the city with hiking trails, and Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monument are both within 30 minutes of town.
Slide Rock State Park Location: 6871 N. Highway 89A – Sedona (7 miles north of town) Date(s): Open daily 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. (entry closes at 5 p.m.) — June 2026
Worth calling out on its own, Slide Rock is Arizona’s most beloved natural water park — a smooth, 80-foot natural rock chute that drops swimmers into the cold, clear waters of Oak Creek. The park sits at nearly 5,000 feet in elevation, keeping temperatures noticeably cooler than the Valley floor. Arrive at opening to secure a spot; the parking lot fills by mid-morning on weekends. Note that pets are not permitted in the park from May 1 through September 30.
Williams, AZ Location: Approximately 2.5 hours north of Phoenix via I-17 and I-40 Best visited: Any time — sits at 6,700 feet with June highs in the mid-70s
Williams is one of the most underrated day trips from Phoenix and packs a full day’s worth of fun into one small town. Canyon Coaster Adventure Park is home to Arizona’s only mountain coaster — a one-mile gravity-propelled track that winds through the pines at speeds you control yourself. Kids as young as 3 can ride with an adult, and solo riders need to be at least 54 inches tall. The park also offers summer mountain tubing, arcade games, and a bar and grill with an outdoor patio. Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (extended to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays). Just down Route 66, Bearizona is a 160-acre drive-through wildlife park where you roll through three miles of Ponderosa Pine forest alongside bears, bison, wolves, and elk — all from your own vehicle. A walk-through Fort Bearizona area follows with jaguars, grizzly bears, and birds of prey demonstrations. Open daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults run about $30 and kids ages 4–12 around $20. Williams also sits just an hour from the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, making it an easy two-for-one day trip.
Grand Canyon South Rim Location: Approximately 3.5 hours north of Phoenix via I-17 and Highway 64 Date(s): Open year-round
One of the seven natural wonders of the world is less than four hours from your front door. June is one of the driest months at the South Rim, and the inner canyon trails (Bright Angel, South Kaibab) are best done at sunrise before the heat builds. The rim itself stays in the mid-70s in June — dramatically cooler than the Valley. Plan to arrive early, book any shuttle or mule experiences well in advance, and bring more water than you think you’ll need if you step below the rim at all.
