About This Project

Ryan and Kylie came to us after a few years of living in their very first home, which was a newly built condo we sold them right after they got married. They were planning on having a baby and the furniture store they had recently opened in Central Phoenix, Modern Manor, was forcing a long commute that was growing old. They wanted a bigger home closer to their thriving new store, and they also had to figure out what to do with their current condo.

The main criteria for our home search was a property in a great neighborhood with killer architecture that the Durkins could make their own. Ryan and Kylie have enough design skill to turn even the ugliest of homes into a gem, and we wanted to find them something to which they could add value. After a few weeks of searching, we found them the perfect home: A Mid-Century Modern that was so ugly only the bravest of souls could see its potential. It was perfect. The home was listed for $274,000 but had been sitting on the market for months. We went to war for the Durkins and ended up getting the home for them for $225,000.

Since they didn’t have to sell the old condo to buy a new home, we came up with a strategy to help them rent out the condo and keep it as a long-term investment. After renting out their condo, and with an incredible discount on the purchase price of their new home, the Durkins went to work and created the masterpiece you see before you.

Today, with two little boys and a thriving business in Central Phoenix, the Durkins could not be happier as they host amazing parties and create new memories in their home. As a bonus, they were even recently featured on the Mid-Century Modern Tour! While they love this home, we eagerly await the next call from the Durkins, because we know they will have their sights set on another remodeling adventure soon.
